CALL TO ACTION SOCIALS
The Coalition together with Erie Shore Activists launched “Call to Action Socials” during 2017, hosting three events in in Ohio City, Euclid and Rocky River. The format features networking, a featured speaker, and updates on Green Ribbon advocacy. At the Henn Mansion in Euclid, for example, attendees learned about the City’s ambitious lakefront project which includes a unique lakeside trail and cliff stabilization feature together with a new marina and community pier. A full schedule of “Socials” are in the works for 2018.

ALL HANDS-ON DECK
Green Ribbon Coalition sponsored the inaugural All Hands-on Deck event calling attention to the importance of Great Lakes environmental protections and water quality. Erie Shore Activists together with thousands of other concerned citizens from hundreds of lakefront communities joined-hands on the lake shore at Noon on July 3rd to spark media attention to the issue. A more robust event is planned for the coming year.

RIDE & LEARN
This past October, Erie Shore Activists staged the inaugural guided cycling tour of the lakefront to view first-hand the location of proposed development projects with the commentary of Green Ribbon leaders. Lakefront developer Dick Pace cycled with the group to showcase his plans for E.9th Street Pier. Bob Gardin, GRC’s Project Director for the proposed Land Bridge and Gordon Park expansion, and Ted Ferringer, architect for the new Edgewater Beach House, conducted the Tour.

ISSUE READY
GRC will launch in 2018 an initiative to educate our volunteers, and the community at large on the fundamentals of green development, and the issues impacting the highest and best use of lakefront land, and on water quality and lake management. Workshops and orientations are in the works, and collaboration with the CSU College of Urban Affairs is under consideration.

JUST FOR FUN
A morning of paddle boarding instruction at Wendy Park, a walking tour of Flats bridges, and an evening excursion on the Goodtime were among the activities “just for fun” this past year.
